Week of August 7, 2017
We continue hauling off the construction debris and transporting it to the recycling center. Crews will also continue working on demolishing concrete structures near the AMUC.
Inside the AMUC, work continues to address finishes on the west side of the building where it previously connected with the DUC. The concrete pad at the loading dock of the AMUC will be saw cut in advance of work that will take place to extend the campus underground steam distribution center. Performing this work now will avoid disturbing students who will be returning to campus in a few weeks.
In other areas of the project, work will continue on installing the new water line.
On July 20th the last section of the DUC was torn down (see the video below!) Special precautions were taken to ensure there was no damage to the Alumni Memorial University Center (AMUC). As you pass by the project site you will see that there is a plywood barrier in place to protect the façade. The demo contractor has worked diligently to separate the various construction materials so that they can be taken to an off-site recycling facility.
Other work on site includes the installation of a new water service for the CLC. This work is taking place in the courtyard behind Raoul Hall. Other enabling work includes rerouting steam service inside the AMUC, the completion of a new compactor pad across the street from Raoul Hall, and locating the construction project trailers near the southwest side of the DUC-ling.
